JINGLE BALL

This Saturday, December 4, my roomates and I went to Arco Arena (where the Sacramento Kings play) to go to the Jingle Ball concert hosted by the local radio station, 107.9 (our 102.7 KIIS fm in LA). The artists that performed were Switchfoot, Simple Plan, Avril Lavigne, Hilary Duff, and a surprise performance by GWEN STEFANI!!! It was a great concert. Surprisingly, my favorite act of the night was by Avril Lavigne. The more I listen to her, the more I grow to love her. She's so awesome. I love live music and her music sounded exactly like her albums or her on the radio. I think she's an amazing artist; she not only sings well, but creates her own music, plays her own music (piano & guitar), and she has her own style. She played all my favorite Avril songs & of course, I sang along w/ all of them. I love her lyrics. Anyways, you get the point: it was great! Gwen only played one song, which was her new song, What Are You Waiting For, which has a Alice in Wonderland type theme. She gave a great one act performance, which made me happy I got to see her live. She's also another one of my most favorite artists, although I think it's kinda ridiculous that she changed from No Doubt to just Gwen Stefani. Why does she have to take all the glory away from the rest of the band...i mean come on, she already gets all the attention. Anywho, Switchfoot was great once again. I saw them this summer at the Sonoma County fair. They also put on an amazing performance. Simple Plan was also great to hear. This was one of the best concerts ever! It reminds me of jr.high & hs and all our teenybopper posters. Hilary Duff on the other hand, was a little disappointing. One of her first best singles, So Yesterday, was not even one of her acts. She only played a couple of her good singles and the rest were from her new album, which were all punk rockish type songs, which does not seem to be a good style for her. She even messed up and said she was gonna sing this song called "party," or something like that and she ended up singing a different song. She even admited it to the audience. But yeah, my fav act: AVRIL LAVIGNE! listen to her music...its actually realliy good. I'm addicted.

FINALS

Dum Dum Dum Dum DUMMMMMM....finals are next week. Am I nervous yet? No not really...i think it's because I've been bombared with assignments and 10 pg essays. My focus has not yet been on finals nor on Winter break. I think I mite be falling apart. Someone please tape me back together if that happens. Anywho, I'm pretty excited to go to Escondido again and also to go see Les Miserables at the Pantages Theater in L.A. Everything has been crazy with so many birthdays and events going on here in Davis. Last Thursday me and Tom, Chris' best friend, threw Chris his first birthday party ever for his 21st bday. I never realized how many people have never ever had a bday party before. Sad huh? So for those of you who have had many bday parties...appreciate it a lot! Anyways, I will be home in a couple of wks & on the 19th it will be my dad's 6 yr annivesary. How time flies...For some reason, I've been thinking about it a lot more this year...it's been hitting me more how much I miss him & all the memories I shared with him & all the things he did for me. I've been playing his song a lot & reading his letter he wrote to me. He was an amazing man who was so devoted to God. It makes me realize how inadequate I am compared to him & how much harder I need to work in order to make him proud.
